NYIT | Thesis | Fall 2021 - Spring 2022 | Professors Christian Pongratz + Alessandro Melis
"“To Live Again” is the overall concept of goals in this project. This area of research centralizes around the ideas of Reduction, Reuse, and Revitalization of the ILVA steel plant in order to create an adaptive reuse site for the city of Taranto, Italy. ILVA has long been a major contributor to various problems that plague Taranto and it’s populants. Through these three key approaches, the brown-field will transform from a harmful scar on Taranto’s community and health, to a site of community and health-centric revitalization. This thesis is a 2 part project. The first of which is centered around research and data collection. The second is the creation of a master plan and guideline for the future development of Taranto."
